PHARMATHEN’s manufacturing plant started operating in 1972 and specializes in the manufacturing of:

• Solid dosage forms (coated and uncoated tablets, capsules with pellets, powders)
• Parenteral dosage forms (low and high volume vials, ampoules)
• Gels, Creams

The manufacturing unit strictly follows the most up-to-date guidelines as described in Good Manufacturing Practice (G.M.P.) according to European Standards. The management continuously provides significant financial support for the modernization of production areas and of the machinery in order to sustain the high quality of the products manufactured.

The manufacturing plant is successfully audited every year by 20 different European organizations or companies and the Greek National Organisation of Medicines. Success in audits is achieved by demonstrating efficiency, safety, quality in procedures and by adhering to the requirements of even the most demanding customer.

The development of the manufacturing plant has increased significantly during the last years by continuously installing new machinery and producing annually 350 million tablets, 700,000 low and high volume vials for injection and 2.5 million ampoules for injection. The quality of the products manufactured with automated procedures is of the highest standard whilst keeping the cost at a low level.

Finished dosage forms, raw and packaging materials during production and storage are kept under controlled conditions in storage areas of exquisite standards and quality matching those of the manufacturing area.

A significant percentage of the people employed in the manufacturing unit are still working at Pharmathen since the founding of the company, a feature which provide us with great satisfaction. The personnel is continuously trained within and outside the company in order to maintain the high knowledge and specialisation level that is required in the field of pharmaceuticals.
